We made it home after a few days of playing in the snow in Minnesota. I was sad to leave the white stuff but really starting to miss my flip flops and getting tired of wearing so many layers.
We woke up at 6AM to get ready and take the dogs to the Boarder by 8AM. Huck had a job to look at, in West Palm, at 9AM.
He finished in job in less that 15 minutes, and we decided to grab breakfast and wait at the airport until we left at noon. We had a layover in Charlotte, NC before we made it to St. Paul. This was the first flight Huck and I have been on together. If you remember my last post, I talked about how I get nervous before a flight. All four of our flights this weekend were nice. Coming home last night was a little bumpy but nothing to bad. We also got the seats right behind first class on all our flights, so we had plenty of leg room.
My seatmate was super cute, too! He spent most of our flight sleeping on my feet.
We arrived in The Twin Cities at 5PM. As we were landing, we started to get excited. Everything was covered in snow. As we walked off the plane, we got the first taste of the cold air. My jacket quickly came out.
Chris met us at the airport, and we went straight to The Mall of America where we met Lisa and dropped off our luggage. We started walking around the Mall when Huck spotted a Hot Sauce Shop. Of course, we had to sample a few.
We walled around the mall for a while before stopping at Dick’s Last Resort for a beer.
Dick’s was… interesting. They advertise themselves as services with sarcasm. Sarcasm is an understatement. They are just rude. We ordered beer and one of the servers dropped them on the table and told us to figure it out ourselves. No one got the beer they ordered.
After Dick’s, we went to Lego World.
All of these are made from Lego. I can’t imagine how long that would take!
As we walked out of Lego World, Huck spotted some Roller Coasters we had to ride. How many times do you get to ride a Roller Coast in a mall?
This ride went straight up and straight down.
After riding a couple roller coasters, we hopped on the train and went downtown for dinner.
We had dinner at Minneapolis Town Hall Brewery. We started with a flight of their beers, and I ordered the Oatmeal Stout. I became a huge fan of Stouts this weekend. It was just the perfect weather for it.
The restaurant was really neat. It looked like an old abandoned mansion.
For dinner, Huck ordered the Fat Tony’s Sausage Lasagna. It was good! And so cheap compared to West Palm pricing.
Lisa ordered the Under the Sun Salad, and it had everything under the sun on it. The bacon was the best part. Chris and Lisa got use to having to wait for me to take a picture of their food after a couple days.
I ordered the Wild Rice and Chicken Soup and The Chef Beer Brat. Soup was also a winner this weekend. I needed something to warm me up.
I thought I took a picture of Chris’ food, but can’t seem to find it. He ordered the Flatbread Tacos with Roasted Pork. They were probably my favorite. The meat was so flavorful.
After dinner and a few beers, we headed back to the train. All the train and bus stops have heaters. Just what these two Florida peeps needed. It was cold!
All weekend, everyone keep telling us we got off easy because the weather was so “warm!” The week before we arrived, it was like negative 30 degrees. We enjoyed 5-20 degree temps. From West Palm to Minneapolis, it was a 70 degree difference. 70!!!
We went to bed around 1AM and planned to get up at 6AM. Chris and Lisa would not tell us what was on the agenda for the Friday, but insured us it would be fun!
We even had someone to snuggle with as we were going to sleep.
