I have received all my wedding pictures, so I can finally do a few wedding recaps. Huck and I originally wanted to elope. After talking with family, we decided to have a wedding in Florida. I knew it would be hard for everyone to make it to South Florida, but it was harder for me to plan a wedding in GA without being there.
Our wedding was very low key. It was definitely not a typical wedding. There was no cocktail hour, we served tacos, and as someone pointed out, we did not have live music at the reception.
When we started talking about our wedding, we both said we had no desire to have an expensive wedding. When I first set our budget, I laughed at myself. I thought there was no way we could do it, but we managed to come in under budget.
We had a beautiful setting, I had my moms dress redesigned, and I married the best thing that every happened to me! It was perfect!
Due to multiple reasons Huck and I decided we would break tradition and spent the night, before the wedding, together. We’re not very traditional anyways, but I originally didn’t want to see each other. It was nice not sleeping in an empty bed, though.
I asked everyone to be at our house at 8AM to start setting up. I woke up between 4-5AM and couldn’t go back to sleep. I checked the weather and the forecast was sunny and 75! A brides dream.
At 8AM, on the dot, I called everyone to see where they were. I got a little stressed when I found out everyone was still sleeping. I paced around the house until 9AM when everyone arrived. My grandmothers, mom, sister, aunt, cousin, and Huck’s mom and sister, helped setup the clubhouse.
I left at noon to get my hair done at Pizzazz Hair in Abacoa. The lady that did my hair was great! I found my new hairstylist in South Florida!
I wanted a simple hairstyle for the wedding and just had my hair curled.
Huck and I decided to stay at The Jupiter Beach Resort for our wedding night. Since we were already paying for it, I got ready at the hotel with my bridesmaids and parents while Huck got ready at our house. As I was checking in, the lady at the front desk told me we got an upgrade to a Superior Suite. Score!!
The suite was huge and had a great view of the ocean.
I did not eat breakfast or lunch, so my family brought me Taco Bell on their way to the hotel. The perfect wedding day meal. It went well with the Wine Shelly bought me.
Jilda brought a bottle of Green Apple Sparkletini and Flowers. And yes, we used the empty bottle as a vase. Classy!
While I enjoyed my tacos, the photographers got started on the pictures.
If you remember, I wore my Mom’s wedding dress, with a few updates of course. She did not see the dress prior to the wedding.
I had the photographers do a dress reveal with my Mommy prior to the wedding. I sent pictures of my dress to my bridesmaids before the wedding, but no one seen it on me, besides Yen, before the wedding.
For as long as I can remember, my mom has tried to talk me and Tabby into wearing her dress. I was crazy enough to actually do it. To see the tears in her eyes when she seen it, made it all worth it.
Huck got ready at our house with a couple of his groomsmen.
I don’t have any pictures of him getting ready :(
Our wedding ceremony was at the Jupiter Lighthouse at 5PM. After our first trip to the lighthouse, we both knew that was where we wanted to get married.
This tree is gorgeous!!
As I was looking for a musician to play at the ceremony, I came across a steel drummer. We both agreed it was perfect. Honestly, I do not remember hearing him playing (I had a lot going on), but everyone said he did a great job.
I just wanted to blow this picture up… This is my husband!
And because this is my blog, I can post all the picture of myself I want :) Really, I would add more of Huck, I just don’t have many of him prior to the ceremony. I’m not being completely self-centered!
And I will leave you with me peaking out the window to see my soon-to-be husband.
I’ll be back soon with a recap of the ceremony.
